چکیده
There is a limited amount of research on geographic differences in preventable hospitalizations for ambulatory care sensitive conditions (ACSCs) among children with autism. The purpose this study was to examine US regional potentially hospital admissions pediatric inpatients diagnosed Hospital discharge data six were obtained from the 2016–2019 National Inpatient Sample (NIS) under Agency Healthcare Research and Quality. Geographic autism examined by census regions divisions. Multiple logistic regression analyses conducted child clinical characteristics associated ACSCs hospitalization across four regions; dependent variable likelihood hospitalization. Additionally, further explored variation racial ethnic groups each region or division. Of 138,305 autistic aged 2–17 years, about 10% had primary diagnosis related ACSCs. results showed that highest proportion occurred middle Atlantic division northeast region. Racial observed all regions, particularly south regions. Black more likely be hospitalized compared White three Our highlight significant disparities avoidable Examining could inform policy practice while gaining better understanding patients where their families access health services. findings may help policymakers identify intervention needed tackle inequities accessibility quality US. Further studies detailed investigation are recommended understand mechanisms underlying these disparities, formulate effective practices considering unique needs challenges underserved

Bronchiolitis-associated hospitalizations among US children, 1980-1996.
CONTEXT Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes more lower respiratory tract infections, often manifested as bronchiolitis, among young children than any other pathogen. Few national estimates exist of the hospitalizations attributable to RSV, and recent advances in prophylaxis warrant an update of these estimates. OBJECTIVES To describe rates of bronchiolitis-associated hospitalizations and...
متن کاملDeterminants of geographic variation in Helicobacter pylori infection among children on the US-Mexico border.
Rates of Helicobacter pylori infection are traditionally higher in developing countries than in developed countries, but the specific reasons for these differences are not fully clear. While chronic diseases resulting from H. pylori are generally of adult onset, chronic infection usually begins in childhood. In this cross-sectional study (1998-2000), the authors compared prevalences of H. pylor...
متن کاملSociodemographic and Health Characteristics, Rather Than Primary Care Supply, are Major Drivers of Geographic Variation in Preventable Hospitalizations in Australia
BACKGROUND Geographic rates of preventable hospitalization are used internationally as an indicator of accessibility and quality of primary care. Much research has correlated the indicator with the supply of primary care services, yet multiple other factors may influence these admissions. OBJECTIVE To quantify the relative contributions of the supply of general practitioners (GPs) and persona...
متن کاملClostridium difficile infection among children across diverse US geographic locations.
OBJECTIVE Little is known about the epidemiology of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) among children, particularly children ≤3 years of age in whom colonization is common but pathogenicity uncertain. We sought to describe pediatric CDI incidence, clinical presentation, and outcomes across age groups. METHODS Data from an active population- and laboratory-based CDI surveillance in 10 US ge...
